Akwatia MP Bernard Bediako Baidoo has repeated his allegations against his colleague, Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, despite a lawsuit filed against him over claims the latter says are false.
Speaking on Accra FM on Monday, September 28, 2026, Baidoo maintained that Awuah is being investigated by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over alleged wrongdoing linked to his time as a lawyer for SIC Life Insurance.
He disputed Awuah’s earlier claim that the recent attempt by EOCO to arrest him was connected to his representation of Salomey Awiti Baffoe in the Ghana Jollof case.
Baidoo alleged that EOCO documents show Awuah renegotiated a judgment involving SIC Life and Equity Micro-Finance without the knowledge or approval of SIC Life’s board.
According to him, SIC Life had secured a judgment over a GH¢6 million loan owed by Equity Micro-Finance, with the court ordering the sale of property valued at about GH¢25 million to recover the debt.
Baidoo claimed that after another company, Eco Swiss, disputed ownership of the property, Awuah settled the matter without evidence of board approval.
He further alleged that Awuah received payments from SIC Life, Eco Swiss and Equity Micro-Finance in connection with the matter.
“After this, Eco Swiss gave Baffour Awuah GH¢2.2 million. What was this for? You were not their lawyer… All of these are from EOCO documents. As if this was not enough, the people from Equity also gave him over GH¢600,000,” Baidoo said.
He also claimed that Awuah and his law firm paid GH¢1 million to the then Managing Director of SIC Life, Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah.
The claims come after Awuah filed a Writ of Summons against Baidoo and broadcaster Abubakar Alhassan, popularly known as Blakk Rasta, on September 28.
Awuah said he was seeking civil redress over what he described as false statements made against him.
He has also denied allegations concerning excessive legal fees in the SIC property case.
