United Party leader Alan Kyerematen has acknowledged improvements in Ghana’s economic performance under President John Dramani Mahama but says the durability of the gains will ultimately determine their significance.
Speaking on The Point of View on Channel One TV on Monday, September 21, 2026, Kyerematen said the government had generally done well, particularly in stabilising the macroeconomy.
He, however, cautioned against viewing recent improvements as conclusive evidence of lasting economic stability.
According to him, the government must demonstrate that the progress recorded can be maintained over a much longer period.
“Success is good and is very important but the real litmus test of success is when you are able to sustain it.”
Kyerematen said economic improvements should be supported by policies and systems that can preserve stability beyond the short term.
