Former Energy Minister and New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairmanship aspirant, Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, has congratulated John Boadu on his election as the party’s new National Chairman, while pledging his full support to the newly elected national executives.
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 4, 2026, following the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi, Mr. Agyarko described the outcome of the election as a reaffirmation of the party’s democratic traditions, internal vitality and collective commitment to the future of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition.
He extended his congratulations to Mr. Boadu, saying delegates had entrusted him with the responsibility of steering the affairs of the party.
Mr. Agyarko also congratulated the other newly elected national executives and commended their victories as a collective call to duty, service and sacrifice.
Calls for unity after contest
Reflecting on his own campaign, Mr. Agyarko expressed gratitude to his campaign team, volunteers, constituency chairpersons, constituency executives and delegates who supported his bid.
He praised them for conducting the campaign with dignity, vigour and what he described as an “unwavering love” for the NPP.
He stressed that the chairmanship contest should not create divisions within the party, insisting that internal elections are contests among members of the same political family.
“Today, there are no individual victors or vanquished — it is the New Patriotic Party that has emerged victorious,” he said.
According to him, the election was now behind the party and the focus must immediately shift to consolidation and presenting a united front.
Backs Boadu and Bawumia
Mr. Agyarko further declared his readiness to work with the new National Chairman, the entire National Executive Committee and the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, towards the NPP’s return to power.
He identified victory in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections as the party’s “supreme, non-negotiable objective.”
He pledged to work with the party’s leadership and grassroots across all 16 regions to achieve that goal and return the NPP to government.
Mr. Agyarko also commended the NPP National Elections Committee, the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the security services for overseeing what he described as a smooth, transparent and peaceful election.
He concluded by urging members of the NPP to rise together as “one indivisible elephant family,” united in purpose, discipline and fellowship.
