An Accra High Court has issued a warrant authorising the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to arrest Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
EOCO told the court that it had exhausted reasonable efforts to secure the MP’s voluntary attendance and feared that documents linked to its investigation could be concealed, altered or destroyed.
The agency was also granted authority to search for and seize relevant documents.
The order comes a week after EOCO officers attempted to arrest Baffour Awuah at the Accra High Court on September 23, resulting in a confrontation.
EOCO says the case follows two invitations issued to the MP in February 2026. Baffour Awuah, however, disputes the account and says the investigation concerns SIC Life Savings and Loans, a former client of his law firm.
He said representatives of the firm appeared before EOCO investigators on three occasions and provided the information requested.
The MP said his former firm was engaged by SIC Life to recover about GH¢3.5 million invested with Equity Savings and Loans. He said the amount, with interest, later rose to about GH¢14 million before a negotiated settlement was reached.
EOCO has not publicly disclosed the full details of its investigation. The latest court order now gives the agency authority to proceed with the arrest and search.
