Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has defended 40-year-old Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as “Ghana Jollof,” describing her as an intelligent woman making contributions to the country.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with JoyNews on October 7, 2026, Mr Blay said there was a reason behind Kodua’s actions and suggested that she knew what she was doing.

“Ghana Jollof is a very intelligent woman making contributions. There’s a good reason for her to do what she’s doing,” he said.

Mr Blay also compared Kodua’s situation to the treatment of US-based Ghanaian commentator Kevin Taylor.

He alleged that the government [NDC] had supported Taylor despite “some of the outrageous accusations and insults that he raised against more in the opposition, and traditional heads, churches and co.”

According to him, the government’s failure to act against Taylor had created room for others to engage in similar conduct.

His comments come as the Ghana Police Service continues to seek Kodua over an alleged case of incitement of violence.

A wanted-person notice issued by the Police identifies Kodua as a 40-year-old woman who is fair in complexion. She was last seen at the Accra International Airport on August 4, 2022.

The Police said she is suspected of hiding in the United Kingdom.
