Media personality Andy Dosty has denied claims that the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) facilitated his visa for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after Old Tafo MP Vincent Ekow Assafuah named him among individuals whose details were reportedly submitted to the United States Embassy.
The Hitz FM presenter said he paid his own visa fees and arranged his appointment, rejecting suggestions that the GTA had secured his visa.
Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Andy Dosty described the claims as disturbing and said he was consulting his lawyer over possible legal action, arguing that the allegations could damage his reputation.
“...Walas, if it were GTA, NSA, or Tribe, how come I paid for my own visa fee, booked a date? I have got receipts of paying the guy, Nana B, my friend. What has that got to do with me? What is happening? This is really disturbing; I don’t like that. I am in touch with my lawyer to see the way forward, because we all don’t understand,” he said.
The dispute follows comments by Assafuah, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee, during a press conference organised by the Minority.
He claimed Andy Dosty was among 50 individuals whose names the GTA submitted to the US Embassy for visa facilitation ahead of the tournament.
In a subsequent response, Assafuah clarified that the submission of the list did not mean the individuals had obtained visas through the authority or the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
He explained that there had been initial plans to take the individuals to the tournament and maintained that Andy Dosty’s name appeared on the list submitted by Maame Efua, challenging the GTA chief executive to deny the list’s existence if the claim was untrue.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the matter to establish the facts and identify anyone found culpable.
