Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr Stephen Amoah, popularly known as Sticka, has warned that he would take action against members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in his constituency if he is arrested without committing an offence.

Dr Amoah said he would have no objection to being arrested if he had broken the law. However, he warned that an arrest he considers unjustified would have consequences after his release.

Speaking during a panel discussion on OwiaTV on October 3, 2026, the former Deputy Finance Minister said he would not allow himself to be intimidated.

“For me, sitting here, if the NDC wants, they should arrest me. If I am arrested after committing an offence, I am okay. But if I don’t commit any offence and I am arrested, after my release, Ghanaians will see what will happen,” he said.

He went further to threaten that NDC members in his constituency would face the consequences of what he described as a wrongful arrest.

“In my constituency, every NDC member there will leave the place. I swear by the God I serve, if you arrest me for no offence,” he added.

Dr Amoah argued that failure by authorities to uphold the rule of law could provoke reactions with wider consequences.

His comments come amid several arrests involving individuals affiliated with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), including Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, whose legal case has been described by some NPP supporters as politically motivated.
