President John Dramani Mahama is expected to cut the sod in the coming weeks for the construction of the Accra Convention Centre, a new investment by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
The 81,422-square-metre facility will be located at the Trade Fair Centre and is expected to provide modern infrastructure for conferences and high-level meetings.
According to Minister of State for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the centre will feature a 3,000-seater main conference hall, a Presidential Hall for high-level meetings and four large auditoriums.
He announced the project in a post on X on October 7, 2026, describing it as the latest investment by SSNIT.
The project is expected to add to the infrastructure at the Trade Fair Centre and provide facilities for hosting major conferences and events.
The sod-cutting ceremony is expected to mark the beginning of construction, with further details on the project to be announced as preparations continue.
