The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing earlier this month.
The suspects have been identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai. Their arrests followed investigations by the Police Missing Persons Unit.
Police investigations indicate that Kyere left his home at Kokomlemle on September 19 in his Honda Civic but did not return. Investigators believe he was subsequently lured to Tefe’s residence at Teshie Agbleza by Adams.
According to the police account, Tefe and Adams later confessed to their involvement. Police said Tefe attacked Kyere during a confrontation, allegedly striking him with a metallic object. The victim was reportedly moved to another room, where he was left unattended and later died.
Investigators further established that Kyere’s body was allegedly transported in a Kia Morning to a location near the motorway on September 20. It was reportedly dumped in a bush and set ablaze. The partially burnt remains were discovered at Community 18 the following day.
Kyere’s mother and an uncle later identified the remains at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24.
Police also recovered his iPhone 12, which they allege Tefe sold for GH¢100. The alleged buyer, Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained over suspected dishonest receipt of the phone.
Obodai was arrested over his alleged connection to the disposal of the body, while the Kia Morning believed to have been used in transporting the remains has been impounded.
The three suspects remain in custody and are expected to appear before court as investigations continue.
