MultiChoice Ghana has announced four new DStv subscription packages, with monthly prices starting at GH¢50, as the pay-TV operator restructures its offerings to make television content more accessible to households.
The new packages, unveiled at a joint press briefing with the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations on Monday, October 26, will take effect on November 5, 2026.
Under the revised arrangement, DStv’s six existing packages will be replaced by four options: Starter, Select, Sports and Ultimate.
The Starter package will cost GH¢50 per month and provide access to 90 channels, including selected entertainment, movie, children’s and free-to-air content. The Select package, priced at GH¢100 monthly, will offer 123 channels, providing subscribers with a broader range of programming.
Football fans will have the option of the Sports package at GH¢250 per month. MultiChoice says the package will include its full football offering, featuring competitions such as the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
At the top end, the Ultimate package will cost GH¢570 monthly, combining premium entertainment with an extensive selection of sports content.
MultiChoice Ghana Chief Executive Officer Alex Okyere said the new structure was designed to give customers options that better match their viewing preferences and budgets.
The price changes follow sustained public debate over DStv subscription costs in Ghana, with affordability emerging as a major concern for consumers.
The government has also raised concerns about the cost of legal television services and the need to address piracy and the use of illegal streaming devices.
The new rates will allow subscribers to select packages based on their preferred content and spending capacity. MultiChoice has clarified that the revised packages and prices are permanent changes rather than a short-term promotional offer.
Subscribers can review the available channel line-ups before choosing a package when the new pricing takes effect.
