The Ministry of Health has announced the full restoration of the District Health Information Management System (DHIMS) following a temporary nationwide disruption that affected health information management across Ghana.
In a statement issued on Friday, November 6, 2026, the Ministry confirmed that the platform, managed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), was fully operational again.
DHIMS supports the collection, collation and management of health information at the district level, making it an important tool for monitoring healthcare activities and generating national health reports.
The Ministry expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their patience and cooperation during the period of disruption.
It also clarified that the Ghana Health Information Management System (GHIMS), which hospitals use to manage patients' medical records, was not affected by the outage and continued operating throughout the period.
The clarification is intended to address concerns about possible interruptions to hospital operations and access to patients' medical records.
The restoration follows a disruption that began on October 29, 2026, after technology provider Akamai suspended access to servers hosting several Ghana Health Service digital platforms over an outstanding payment of US$64,510.95.
The incident had raised concerns about the country's reliance on digital infrastructure for health information management.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening digital health systems to improve efficiency, data management and healthcare delivery nationwide.
