Akim Oda MP Alexander Akwasi Acquah has called on the NDC-led government to resign if it cannot deliver on the solutions and promises it made to Ghanaians while in opposition.
Speaking on Morning Starr on Starr FM, Acquah said political leaders who identified the country’s problems and proposed solutions before taking office should be able to implement those plans once allowed to govern.
“You were proffering some solutions when you were in opposition. And you haven’t been able to enact those solutions. You just have to give way,” he said.
The MP argued that government officials should not continue pointing out problems they had already identified without acting on the solutions they previously proposed.
“There are a lot of other people who may be in the NDC who could occupy some spaces,” he added.
Acquah also criticised what he described as the government’s continued involvement in controversies.
According to him, the constant controversies surrounding the government have taken attention away from discussions about policies that are important to national development.
“We haven’t had the opportunity to interrogate some of these things that are supposed to be dear to our hearts for national development,” he said.
Acquah said the government should also focus on delivering positive developments that would give citizens confidence in its administration.
“You could have diversionary tactics as a government. But sometimes it has to be some sweet news. It has to be something that is positive. It has to be something that would direct attention to the government,” he said.
He added that Ghanaians need to see tangible developments that would give them hope that the country is being properly governed.
