The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that reports of a student’s death at Ghana National College relate to an incident in 2018 and do not concern a recent occurrence.
In a Facebook post, the Service said no student had died at the Cape Coast-based school recently and urged the public to disregard claims suggesting otherwise.
The GES said the reports appeared to be an attempt by unidentified individuals to revive painful memories for the bereaved family while damaging the reputation of teachers, house mistresses and the school.
It described the circulation of the claims as unfair to those affected by the 2018 incident and appealed to the public not to give them credence.
The clarification follows reports circulating about an alleged student death at the institution, which had raised concerns among members of the public.
The Service did not provide further details about the 2018 incident in its post.
