The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents and supporters to immediately stop all forms of campaign activities.
In a statement issued on October 11, 2026, and signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said it had received numerous complaints that some members with parliamentary ambitions had already begun campaigning in various constituencies.
The leadership described the early campaigning as contrary to the party’s regulations and Code of Conduct. It said the practice creates an uneven playing field and undermines the unity and discipline on which the party’s success depends.
The directive takes immediate effect and covers, but is not limited to:
Mounting of posters, billboards, banners and other branded materials
Organising rallies, polling station executives meetings or tours to solicit support
Distributing items or other inducements to delegates and party members
Paid media and social media advertising promoting a candidature
Party officers at the polling station, electoral area, constituency, regional and national levels, as well as TESCON, have been strictly forbidden from posting any parliamentary aspirant on social media platforms such as Facebook, X and Instagram, or from enabling any premature campaign activities.
The statement warned that anyone who fails to comply will face the party’s disciplinary procedures, which may affect their eligibility to contest.
The NPP said it will announce the timetable and guidelines for the parliamentary processes in due course. Constituency and regional executives have been instructed to ensure strict compliance within their jurisdictions.
“The Party counts on the cooperation of all members,” the statement concluded.
