The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it has put arrangements in place to ensure a smooth voting process for its upcoming national officers election.
Chairman of the NPP National Officers Elections Committee, Fredrick Opare-Ansah, said the committee has been working with stakeholders to minimise difficulties on election day.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, he said the Electoral Commission (EC) is organising the election based on guidelines provided by the party.
“Our focus is to put in place all the measures to make the party stronger. Every point of the way, we, the committee, engage all the stakeholders and the public,” he said.
Mr Opare-Ansah explained that separate voting centres have been designated for the party’s youth, women and Nasara wings. The youth wing will have five centres, while the women’s wing will have three and Nasara two, based on their respective delegate numbers.
The main voting activities will be held at the stadium, with 21 voting centres arranged around the regions. He said regions with larger numbers of delegates would have additional arrangements to reduce congestion.
Each centre will have booths for delegates to vote for the various national officer positions.
“There will be five booths there for you to select the chairman, organiser and the others. Then if you are qualified for any of the wings, you go to their booth and vote,” he explained.
A total of 7,163 delegates are expected to participate in the election, with the committee urging them to arrive early.
Mr Opare-Ansah said the EC had indicated that completing voting by noon would allow the remaining election activities to proceed smoothly.
“The EC has assured us that if we are able to complete the election by 12, it will be good enough for everything to run smoothly,” he said.
