The Ghana Police Service has postponed the full rollout of its automated traffic enforcement programme, TRAFFITECH-GH, from October 1 to November 1, 2026.
The Service said the one-month extension will allow for broader public education on the system before it becomes fully operational.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Affairs Directorate on Tuesday, September 29, the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) said the additional period will be used to educate motorists on how TRAFFITECH-GH works, the offences it will detect and the Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) that will be issued to offenders.
“The rescheduling is to allow for more extensive public awareness and education on the programme, including its operations, the traffic offences to be detected, the Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) to be issued to offending motorists,” the Police said.
TRAFFITECH-GH is part of efforts by the Police to improve compliance with road traffic laws and address indiscipline on Ghana’s roads through automated enforcement.
The Service has urged motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to use the additional month to familiarise themselves with the system ahead of the new rollout date.
“The Ghana Police Service, therefore, urges motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to take advantage of the additional period to familiarise themselves with the programme ahead of the rollout,” it stated.
The Police also thanked the media for supporting the introduction of TRAFFITECH-GH and said it would continue working with relevant stakeholders to ensure its successful implementation and improve road safety.
