British prosecutors have accused social media influencer Andrew Tate of making and possessing indecent sexual material involving a 17-year-old girl, according to documents submitted in support of the United Kingdom’s extradition request.
The allegations form part of a wider criminal case against Tate, who is currently being held in the United States alongside his brother, Tristan Tate, as they challenge efforts to extradite them to the UK.
According to the court documents, prosecutors allege that material recovered from Andrew Tate’s electronic devices included images and videos involving a teenage girl. The allegations also include claims that he possessed extreme pornography.
The UK Crown Prosecution Service authorised 19 additional charges against Andrew Tate in July, including offences relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Prosecutors also authorised additional charges of rape, trafficking for sexual exploitation and assault.
The alleged offences are said to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017, with the prosecution case involving seven alleged victims.
The latest allegations have emerged as British authorities pursue the extradition of the brothers from the US. Both Andrew and Tristan Tate have denied wrongdoing.
Their lawyer, Joe McBride, has challenged the prosecution's case, arguing that the accusations cannot be properly tested while the identities of the complainants remain undisclosed.
The CPS has stressed that the charges are allegations and do not amount to findings of guilt. The agency has also reminded the public that the defendants are entitled to a fair trial.
The Tate brothers have not yet appeared before a British court to answer the charges.
