Ghanaian actor Joseph Van Vicker has sued fellow actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, at the High Court in Accra, seeking GH¢10 million in damages over alleged defamatory comments in a viral social media video.
In a writ of summons and statement of claim dated October 10, 2026, Van Vicker accuses Lil Win of making statements that allegedly damaged his reputation and portrayed him as dishonest, unprofessional, and unsuitable to work in the Kumawood movie industry.
The suit centres on a video allegedly posted on TikTok and Facebook on August 13, 2026, under the headline: “LIL WIN BANS VAN VICKER FROM ACTING IN KUMASI!”
Van Vicker contends that the publication went beyond a disagreement between colleagues and exposed him to public ridicule and embarrassment, while harming his professional reputation.
In paragraph 22 of his statement of claim, the actor states: “Plaintiff states that by reason of the publication of the said defamatory words, Plaintiff has been seriously injured in his reputation, and has been brought into public scandal, odium, contempt and ridicule…”
He further claims that the video has affected his professional relationships, prompting calls and inquiries from prominent actors, film producers and directors seeking clarification about the allegations.
The writ of summons, issued by the High Court in Accra, directs Lil Win to enter an appearance within eight days of being served. It warns that failure to do so could result in judgment being entered against him in his absence.
Van Vicker is seeking GH¢10 million in exemplary damages over the alleged publication.
