Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has rejected allegations levelled against him by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and repeated by Akwatia MP Bernard Bediako Baidoo.

Baffour Awuah described the allegations as an attempt to discredit and intimidate him over representing Salomey Awiti Baffoe, the 40-year-old nurse detained in connection with the Ghana Jollof case.

In a video shared on his social media, the MP said the allegations would not stop him from defending Salomey.

“When their gross incompetence is exposed, then they try to find a way to silence you. I am not a weak person; this government thinks they can intimidate me. You can orchestrate all the lies you want against me, but that won't stop me from defending Salomey,” he wrote.

He also accused EOCO Executive Director Raymond Archer of misleading the public in an attempt to justify the attempted arrest against him.

Baffour Awuah questioned Baidoo's credibility, as he has repeatedly made allegations about his conduct.

“Because it didn’t end well, Raymond is now spewing lies to the public. He wants to find every means to justify the action. You have heard most of the lies. The Akwatia MP is the one leading the charge, spewing lies,” he said.

He further alleged that EOCO intensified its investigation into his past professional activities after officials discovered that he was representing Salomey.

“It is Raymond Archer’s modus operandi. When they saw I was defending the lady, Salomey Awiti, they then scanned through the security system to see who could get something on me. This is typical of this government, so what it uses against NPP MPs,” he said.

EOCO has maintained that its officers attempted to arrest Baffour Awuah as part of an ongoing investigation after he allegedly failed to honour invitations issued to him in February 2026.

The issue was further fuelled by comments from Baidoo, who claimed the attempted arrest had nothing to do with Baffour Awuah’s representation of Salomey. He alleged that the Manhyia South MP was instead being investigated over conduct dating back to his time as a lawyer for SIC Life Insurance.
