The government has imposed an overnight curfew on Hamile Township and surrounding communities in the Lambussie District of the Upper West Region, with immediate effect.

The restriction, announced by the Ministry for the Interior on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, requires residents to remain indoors between 6:00 pm and 5:00 am daily.

The curfew was imposed on the advice of the National Security Council and through an Executive Instrument.

In its statement, the government urged chiefs, opinion leaders, young people and residents to remain calm and seek peaceful ways to address the challenges facing the area.

It called on local stakeholders to exercise restraint and avoid violence while working towards restoring peace.

The Ministry also announced a complete ban on the possession of firearms, ammunition, and other offensive weapons in Hamile and its surrounding communities.

It warned that anyone found carrying such weapons would be arrested and prosecuted.

The measures are intended to address the situation in the affected communities and maintain security in the area.
