The Democrats have taken over both the House and the Senate. This is called a change from the status quo, which simply means departure from the old ways of doing things.
As a matter of fact, Kansas which has been held by the Republicans since 1938, which is nearly a century ago, has been taken by the Democrats in the ongoing midterm elections.
South Carolina, for example, has never, historically, voted for the Democrats in past 50years. Yet, it has been taken, emphatically, by Democrats in the ongoing midterm polls.
Overwhelming mandate
But oftentimes, when politicians are given an overwhelming mandate by the people, it is rather interpreted as card blanche to engage in utter foolishness and hellacious stupidity.
Donald J. Trump, a democratically elected President of the United States of America, rather behaves like a Supreme Leader of North Korea, always doing things his own way.
He openly insults political opponents and humiliates journalists who ask him critical questions. He calls all Muslims terrorists and treats every non-Caucasian with disdain.
Real American
Historically, the citizens of America, besides the native Red Indians, are the ones Republican whose forebears took part in the great civil war to create the present-day United States.
Donald Trump's father, a German, and mother, a Scott, both of whom went to America after the war of liberation, don't qualify as indigenous Americans, but he insults all immigrants.
At a point, Trump was actually contemplating changing the US Constitution to enable him run for the presidency for the 3rd time, because he was under the the illusion of invincibility.
After going about engaging in insulting political opponents on campaign platforms and his endorsing Republican party candidates, Donald Trump has been given a terrible bloody nose.
Evaporated goodwill
Today, the overwhelming victory and popular goodwill the Republican party enjoyed in 2024, has completely evaporated; ordinary people who have power, have duly taken it back.
This same scenario is playing out in Ghana: Reset the people were promised, has turned out to be a gangatuan hoax; every current bad deed is justified with that of erstwhile NPP.
Today, all acts of naked corruption by any appointtee of the current ndc government, are being justified with what might have happened under the erstwhile NPP Administration.
Ghanaians, whose mandate these ndc people are enjoying, dare to complain about economic hardships, and they are quickly reminded of the worse situation they suffered under NPP.
Naked deception
The fight against galamsey, actualization of 24-hour Economy policy, establishment of Women's Bank, good price to Cocoa Farmers, boreholes in their farms, have been shelved.
The faith of ndc in the 2028 elections is that, they won 2024 by 2 million votes, and that, such a humongous gap cannot be whittled down to zero with a period of just 4years.
The illusion
Effectively, they are under the illusion of maintaining power beyond 2028, since they can win the elections by whatever figure remains of the so-called 2million of 2024.
When people give you a mandate with even one billion votes but don't use it for their benefits they will duly take it back, irrespective of the length of time you've had it for.
3rd Term
So I always get completely flabbergasted to hear some infidelitous crooks within the ndc, agitating for a 3rd term for John Dramani Mahama, when he has failed completely.
As a matter of fact, should ndc manipulate the Constitution to pave the way for Mahama to contest in 2028, it will be the most hellacious electoral Waterloo in their party's existence.
Indeed, the attempts being made by the ndc for the removal of the limit of presidential term of office, should rather be supported by the NPP, because we would be the ultimate beneficiary.
