Commercial drivers operating around the Gee Roundabout near the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi have been given until November 1, 2026, to vacate the area ahead of an eviction exercise by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
The Assembly has warned that vehicles found parked or loading passengers in the restricted areas will be removed from Monday, November 2.
The final notice, issued in a statement, prohibits commercial vehicles from parking or loading passengers around the Gee Roundabout and behind the Komfo Anokye Polyclinic towards 4 Garrison.
According to the KMA, the ban will take effect on the night of Sunday, November 1, to improve access to the hospital and ensure emergency vehicles can respond without obstruction.
The Assembly’s Special Security Taskforce will enforce the directive against drivers who fail to comply.
Commercial and private vehicle operators have also been instructed to use the taxi rank in front of the outpatient department (OPD) of the Komfo Anokye Polyclinic to drop off passengers rather than stopping around the Gee Roundabout.
The KMA said the latest notice reiterates an earlier announcement made on October 13, as it intensifies efforts to ease congestion and improve access to the hospital.
