President John Dramani Mahama is expected to cut the sod for the construction of three 160-bed Regional Referral Hospitals in the Oti, Savannah and Western North Regions in the coming weeks.
The announcement was made by the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, in a post on X on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
He said the projects form part of the government’s broader plans to expand healthcare infrastructure and improve access to medical services across the country.
“As part of a broader strategy to improve healthcare in Ghana, President Mahama will cut the sod in the coming weeks for three 160-Bed Regional Referral Hospitals in the Oti, Savannah, and Western North Regions,” he stated.
The hospitals are expected to provide additional capacity for healthcare delivery in the three regions and serve as referral centres for patients who require specialised or higher-level medical care.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu also shared an architectural design of the proposed hospital for the Oti Region, giving the public an idea of what the facility is expected to look like.
“Here is the design for the one in Oti,” he added.
The planned hospitals are part of the government’s efforts to expand critical public infrastructure and improve the delivery of essential services, particularly healthcare.
However, Mr Kwakye Ofosu did not provide details on the estimated cost of the projects, the contractors expected to undertake the work or when the three hospitals are expected to be completed.
