New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organiser Abanga Yakubu Fuseini has accused the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) of failing to deliver on its promises to young people, describing its youth-focused initiatives as public relations exercises.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr Fuseini said the government had made several commitments, particularly on job creation, but young people were yet to see the expected results.
“We have been scammed by the NDC. They are just doing PR,” he said.
He argued that the continued rollout of initiatives without sufficient progress in tackling youth unemployment was disappointing, considering the expectations the NDC created during the election campaign.
Turning to his new role in the NPP, Mr Fuseini thanked delegates and supporters who voted for him, saying his victory showed that dedication and consistency within the party could be rewarded.
“I am grateful to all my supporters for voting for me to win. Consistency works in the NPP, so as a youth, if you are working for the party, my advice is that you continue the hard work and your reward will come to you,” he said.
He said his immediate focus was to mobilise young people nationwide and help secure victory for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 general election.
Mr Fuseini urged NPP youth to promote Dr Bawumia’s record and communicate what he could offer the country if elected president.
“Most of the successful initiatives that are working in this country were championed by the NPP, so we are not intimidated by the NDC,” he said.
The National Youth Organiser also outlined plans to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures, with a target of establishing a strong presence in at least six to seven regions within his first 100 days in office.
“In my first 100 days in office, I want to capture a lot of regions, at least six to seven regions fully. I am actively working day and night,” he said.
Mr Fuseini said he was determined to strengthen the NPP’s youth wing and ensure young people played a central role in the party’s bid to return to power.
