Alfred Agbesi Woyome has entered the race for the National Vice Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), filing his nomination ahead of the party’s national executive elections.
His nomination was submitted by former Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the party, Dr Catherine Deynu, who said his bid was aimed at strengthening the NDC’s organisational structures and preparing it for future electoral contests.
Speaking to Citi FM, Dr Deynu said Mr Woyome intended to focus on empowering party members, particularly at the grassroots and constituency levels, to improve their capacity and sustain the party’s electoral fortunes.
She argued that his contributions to the NDC over the years had equipped him to take on a greater leadership role and help consolidate the party’s structures.
“Many people can attest to these facts. He has done a lot for the party, and this is the time for him to be at the helm of affairs to ensure that our grassroots members are empowered and that those at the constituency level have their capacity built. He can also help build a strong party that will sustain electoral victories for years to come,” she said.
Dr Deynu added that Mr Woyome’s plans also included promoting sustainable job creation as part of efforts to strengthen the party and improve opportunities for its members.
The NDC is scheduled to elect its national officers at the National Delegates Congress on Saturday, December 19, 2026.
The elections form part of the party’s reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections.
