Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman, Awentami Paul Afoko, has expressed confidence in the party’s ability to return to government in 2028 if he is elected to lead its national administration.
Speaking during his campaign engagements with delegates in the Western, Central and Eastern Regions, Mr Afoko said his immediate priority would be to unite the party and rebuild its grassroots structures.
He said the NPP’s period in opposition could be limited to two years if members put aside their differences and work together towards the next general election.
“I do not have a magic wand, but I can assure you that if we close our ranks and rally behind me to become the National Chairman, we have only two years to stay in opposition, and then power will be ours,” he told constituency executives.
Mr Afoko is campaigning on a three-pronged blueprint he calls the 3Rs – Reunite, Rebuild and Recapture Power.
He argued that internal divisions have weakened the party and stressed the need to restore cohesion among members at all levels.
“We have all the ingredients for victory. What we lack is unity,” he said, urging party members across constituencies and regions to work together.
The former chairman also pledged to strengthen constituency and polling station structures while restoring confidence among supporters.
