A New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator, Baki, has expressed confidence in Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s prospects in the 2028 general election, insisting that changes in the Electoral Commission’s leadership would not prevent the party’s flagbearer from winning.
According to Asaase Radio, Baki argued that Bawumia could secure victory even if prominent National Democratic Congress (NDC) figures such as Azorka or former party General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as Gbande, were to become part of the Electoral Commission.
His comments come amid political discussions about the appointment of some known NDC members as part of leadership of the Electoral Commission.
The NPP lost the 2024 general election to the National Democratic Congress, which secured the presidency under John Dramani Mahama.
Bawumia, who was the NPP’s presidential candidate in that election, has since been tasked with leading the party’s efforts to return to power.
