The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has directed Sarkodie Baffour Awuah and Partners, a law firm linked to Manhyia North MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, to submit nine years of financial and operational records as part of ongoing investigations.

In a letter dated October 30, 2026, the anti-graft agency invoked Section 19 of the Economic and Organised Crime Office Act, 2010 (Act 804), to request documents covering the period from 2017 to 2025.

The firm, where the legislator serves as a senior partner, has been given until Friday, November 6, to provide the requested information.

EOCO is seeking the firm’s audited financial statements and evidence of tax payments to the Ghana Revenue Authority. These include records relating to corporate tax, Value Added Tax, statutory levies and withholding tax.

The agency has also requested details of all bank accounts operated by the firm, together with corresponding statements covering the nine-year period.

Other documents being sought include the firm’s operating permit issued by the relevant local assembly, evidence of its renewal and a list of employees, if any.

The request forms part of investigations into alleged criminal conspiracy, causing financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering and possible tax-related offences.

The case involving Baffour Awuah has attracted attention following his arrest by EOCO in October. He was subsequently granted GH¢10 million bail by the High Court.

His defence has maintained that the legal work involving SIC Life Savings and Loans concerned efforts to recover funds invested with Equity Savings and Loans, disputing the prosecution’s characterisation of the transactions.
