The New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Women’s Organiser, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has provided financial assistance, foodstuffs and other relief items to the children of party activist and TikToker Camilla Alhassan, who is serving a one-year prison sentence.

Alhassan, an NPP polling station executive at Awutu Bereku, was jailed over comments she made concerning President John Dramani Mahama.

During the presentation of the items to her family, Hawa Koomson expressed concern for the children’s welfare and said efforts were underway to secure their mother’s release.

The NPP women’s organiser also turned her attention to allegations of sexual abuse involving the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), calling on the government and the Ghana Police Service to ensure a thorough investigation.

She argued that the allegations, which reportedly involve 19 female students, deserved the same level of attention as the case involving Alhassan.

Hawa Koomson appealed to the Vice President and women’s advocacy groups to speak out and demand accountability, insisting that the allegations must be properly investigated and appropriate legal action taken if they are proven.

She further urged the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to investigate reports concerning the alleged burial of a baby linked to the Obuasi school headmaster.

Questioning the handling of the matter, she called on the police to concentrate on investigating the allegations rather than targeting people who criticise the government.
