Veteran Ghanaian broadcaster, comedian and politician Kwame Dzokoto has reportedly died after collapsing during a panel discussion at Owass Radio in Tarkwa.

According to a report by Citi Newsroom published on Thursday, October 22, the entertainer was rushed to a hospital in Tarkwa after collapsing during the radio discussion. He was reportedly pronounced dead on arrival.

His death was confirmed by a close source of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party with which he was politically associated. Further details surrounding the incident had not been released at the time of publication.

Dzokoto was widely recognised for his work in Ghana’s entertainment and broadcasting industries, particularly his role in the long-running television series Efiewura and his association with the Edziban television show, which explored Ghanaian food and local eateries.

Beyond entertainment, he was involved in politics and contested the Tarkwa-Nsuaem parliamentary seat on the NDC ticket during the 2016 general elections, but did not win.

His death comes weeks after reports about his health circulated online. In September, Dzokoto publicly dismissed rumours that he had died, saying he was alive and recovering after undergoing surgery abroad. He also urged the public and bloggers to verify information before sharing claims about a person’s health.

The circumstances surrounding his reported collapse at the radio station remain unclear, and further information is expected as details emerge.

His reported death marks a significant loss for audiences familiar with his contributions to Ghanaian television, comedy and radio broadcasting.
