African business leader Aliko Dangote has attributed Ghana’s recent economic improvement to renewed investor confidence in President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership.

Speaking at the Accra Reset meeting in New York on Monday, September 21, Dangote said the country’s economic performance demonstrated the importance of trust in attracting and retaining investment.

According to him, the government’s approach had helped reassure investors and rebuild confidence in Ghana’s economy.

Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, said Mahama’s actions did not involve any extraordinary intervention but rather decisions aimed at restoring confidence.

“He didn’t do any magic. He’s not a magician, but he did the right things, and people really have a lot of trust in him. And that’s why Ghana’s economy turned around. This has actually shown that money follows trust,” he said.

He said Ghana’s experience demonstrated the relationship between confidence in leadership and the movement of capital.

The comments were made during the Accra Reset, a high-level meeting hosted by President Mahama on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
