Manhyia South Member of Parliament Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has challenged prosecutors to prove the allegations against him in court, insisting that the claims must be supported by evidence capable of establishing criminal liability.

Speaking to the media after appearing in court on Saturday, October 3, 2026, the MP maintained that he had done nothing wrong and described the case as a witch-hunt.

He said the allegations should be tested through the judicial process rather than through public statements or claims made in the media.

“It’s not about releasing untested evidence to the media. Come to court and come and prove that whatever you are alleging amounts to guilt on my part, for which reason you think the court should convict me,” he said.

Nana Baffour Awuah said he remained confident despite the ongoing investigation and legal proceedings and expressed appreciation for the support he had received from Ghanaians, Parliament and his constituents.

“I have, through it all, been in very good spirits and I’m extremely grateful to the people of Ghana who have seen through the propaganda of the NDC. The support they’ve given me is massive, and I will assure them that I am indeed above board. No dirt can stick on me,” he said.

His comments follow his detention and questioning by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over alleged financial offences linked to SIC Life Savings and Loans.

The allegations include criminal conspiracy, financial loss, money laundering and tax-related offences.

The MP has since been granted GH¢10 million bail by the High Court and is required to remain available to investigators as the case proceeds.

He is scheduled to return to court on October 26 and November 2, 2026, at 10 a.m.
