Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, who is also the lawyer for Salomey Baffoe, reportedly resisted an attempt by officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to arrest him at the Accra High Court on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026.
Baffour Awuah was at the court representing Baffoe, who is facing an alleged abetment charge linked to the Ghana Jollof TikTok account, when the incident occurred.
In a video from the scene, Baffour Awuah is heard telling an EOCO official that the agency had sent a letter to his office and that he would report to them in his own car.
However, as he walked towards his vehicle, the official appeared to block his path and attempted to stop him. A commotion followed, during which Baffour Awuah was heard protesting the move.
“You want to intimidate the lawyers in this case? Because I’m defending a poor woman, you want to arrest me? Speak to the Speaker,” he said.
Baffour Awuah then left the scene, while the reason for the reported attempt to arrest him remained unclear.
Sources cited in connection with the incident said the MP had not received any prior invitation from EOCO apart from the letter sent to his office.
Salomey Baffoe, a senior nursing officer, was arrested over alleged links to the operator of the Ghana Jollof TikTok account. Baffour Awuah has described her arrest as an “abduction” and questioned whether due process was followed.
