Rashid Tanko Computer, Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has challenged party members who suspect vote-buying during the recent constituency elections to provide evidence, saying the party has not received any credible proof of the practice.
In an interview with Nana Aba Anamoah on Starr FM’s Morning Starr, he said election officials and national officers were deployed to monitor the conferences and report any irregularities through the party’s internal structures.
“If we have any credible evidence, we will deal with it. But so far, so good, things went very perfectly, peacefully; it was well organised,” he said.
Mr Tanko Computer urged delegates and observers who witnessed alleged vote-buying to come forward, insisting that social media claims alone were not enough to establish wrongdoing.
“The game is evidence,” he stressed.
He also pointed to measures introduced by the party’s General Secretary to regulate campaigning ahead of the conferences.
The directives restricted large billboards, banners and posters to party offices and voting centres.
According to him, several aspirants and their supporters complied by removing billboards and keeping campaign materials within the approved locations.
Mr Tanko Computer said the party remained open to investigating allegations of electoral malpractice but would require credible evidence before taking action.
