Presidential Staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah says she would turn her back on former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia if he attempted to hug her, despite praising Chief of Staff Julius Debrah for embracing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer at a funeral over the weekend.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Madam Jantuah described Mr Debrah as a calm, kind and approachable person who treats people warmly regardless of their backgrounds.
She said she commended his decision to hug Dr Bawumia but would not personally offer the same gesture because of her own experiences.
“Julius Debrah is a calm man; he is kind and open to all. So, if he has hugged Bawumia, it is a good thing. But if it were me, I would have turned my back to Bawumia,” she said.
Madam Jantuah declined to disclose the details behind her position, saying they were based on things she had witnessed.
“This issue is not something I want to make public, but it is based on what I have witnessed. God bless Julius Debrah for hugging Bawumia, but I won’t do that,” she added.
She also praised Mr Debrah for managing his official duties alongside his private life and business interests.
“When you go to his office, it is like a clinic, the kind of people that come there. But he manages his office, his private life, and his businesses very well,” she said.
Reiterating her stance, Madam Jantuah said she would reject any attempt by Dr Bawumia to hug her if they met.
“I’ll turn my back on Dr Mahamudu Bawumia if he tries to hug me when our paths cross,” she stated.
