The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has announced plans to close selected roads in parts of the Central Business District (CBD) in December to facilitate Christmas trading activities.

The temporary closures are intended to create additional space for traders and shoppers during the festive season, when commercial activity in the capital traditionally increases.

The exercise forms part of the Assembly's efforts to manage the expected rise in pedestrian and trading activities while improving access to designated trading areas.

The AMA is expected to work with relevant security and traffic management agencies to ensure order and minimise disruptions during the period.

Motorists and commuters using affected routes are advised to take note of the planned arrangements and follow directions from traffic officials.

The initiative comes as Accra prepares for the Christmas season, which typically attracts large numbers of shoppers and traders to the city's commercial centres.
