The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 57-year-old man suspected of engaging in multiple shoplifting activities following the circulation of videos allegedly showing him stealing from retail outlets on social media.

The suspect, identified as Nsiah Samuel, was arrested on November 5, 2026, by the Somanya District Police Command in collaboration with the Borteyman Police in Accra.

In a statement issued on Saturday, November 7, the Eastern Regional Police Command described him as a self-acclaimed chief and minister of the gospel residing at Akrade in the Eastern Region.

Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect admitted to stealing consumable goods, electronic gadgets, clothing and other merchandise from shops across several locations in southern Ghana.

The areas mentioned include Kibi, Suhum, Ashaiman, Accra Central, Koforidua, Tema, Akosombo and Adenta.

His arrest followed intelligence gathered after videos purportedly capturing the alleged shoplifting incidents circulated widely on TikTok and other social media platforms.
