Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has announced an upcoming investigation into the dispute surrounding Angela List’s Nguvu Mining and the Konongo mining concession, promising to examine the interests and relationships behind the controversy.
In a Facebook post, Anas said The New Crusading Guide and Tiger Eye had investigated the matter using documents, court records and other sources.
The planned publication will explore how the dispute is affecting Ghana’s gold sector, the potential implications for the state and the networks linked to the mining operations.
“The gold never tells the whole story. We will,” Anas wrote, urging the public to stay tuned for the investigation.
The announcement comes amid a legal dispute over the termination of the mining lease held by Northern Ashanti Mines, a subsidiary of Nguvu Mining.
The company has challenged the termination in court, arguing that it was not notified of the alleged breaches or given an opportunity to address them. It has also sought an injunction to prevent the state from taking over the concession while the case is pending.
The dispute drew further attention after reports that military and police personnel took control of the mine’s premises on October 22, 2026, and directed workers to leave.
Anas said the investigation would examine the circumstances surrounding the concession and the broader implications of the ongoing dispute for Ghana’s gold industry.
