Veteran Ghanaian broadcaster Kwame Dzokoto has recounted how First Lady Lordina Mahama intervened when he was battling health complications, leading to businessman Ibrahim Mahama supporting his medical treatment abroad.
Kwame Dzokoto made the revelation during an interview with broadcaster Blakk Rasta on Blakk Empire Television’s The Black Pot on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
According to Kwame Dzokoto, he was dealing with blood-pressure complications related to his heart when Lordina Mahama became aware of his condition.
He said the First Lady subsequently urged Ibrahim Mahama to assist him, resulting in his travel outside Ghana for surgery.
“I was battling with BP related to the heart and all sorts of things, but by his grace, the First Lady got to know of it, and then she pressured Ibrahim Mahama. He took me outside for the surgery and all. In fact, I am healthy and doing well.”
He expressed appreciation to the Mahama family for the assistance, describing their support as an example of philanthropy.
He also addressed recent public concern about his health after footage of him at an event in Cape Coast circulated online. Kwame Dzokoto explained that the bloating seen in the footage was linked to a honey product he had been consuming and said he was currently doing well.
